Talisker Distillery Visitor Centre

Delivering a completely different visitor experience.

We were asked to deliver a unique visitor experience at Talisker, the only distillery on the Isle of Skye. We brought to the project our detailed knowledge of Skye and our existing understanding of the influence of the island’s landscape on the position of the distillery, the personality of the people and the character of the whisky itself.

"Made by the Sea" 
was at the heart of the creative solution

Defining that unique relationship so as to embrace the key attributes of Talisker’s brand character was vital to the creation of a distinctive, as opposed to a generic, Talisker visitor experience.

We placed the brand mantra “Made by the Sea” at the heart of the creative solution. It’s not just about insight. We followed the “shaped by this place” theme through by designing the entire experience around five distinctive wave shaped elements, exquisitely crafted from copper, granite, acrylic, wood and canvas.

Each element addressed an aspect of the relationship between Talisker and its environment, focusing on Fire, Land, Sea, Craft and People. Remapping the existing physical layout of the visitor centre, we created a selfguided xhibition space, VIP area and flavour wall, and a dramatic visual backdrop in the dramming area. Overlooking Loch Harport, this is one of the best places in the world to drink Talisker.
